Dosage & Administration
Revolution (selamectin) is a unique avermectin with activity against internal and external parasites:
-
Application of Revolution to skin results in rapid absorption through the skin
-
Systemic circulation distributes selamectin throughout the body to protect against both internal and external parasites
-
Selamectin is also redistributed across the skin surface and accumulates in skin sebaceous glands
-
Sebaceous glands serve as reservoirs for selamectin, providing long-lasting protection against external parasites
-
Selamectin works on the nervous system of parasites where it interferes with the parasite nerve transmission resulting in parasite paralysis and death.

Revolution is an approved treatment for:
-
Fleas – Revolution is effective against three stages of the flea life cycle which stops ongoing infestation. Revolution not only kills adult fleas on your dog it also kills the flea eggs and larvae in your dog’s environment. That’s good to know when you consider 95% of your dog’s flea population live in your house, not on your dog.
-
Roundworms – Revolution is an aid in the treatment and control of roundworms; Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina in dogs. Roundworms are the most common worms in dogs and can cause general ill health, especially in puppies. Symptoms can include diarrhoea, weight loss and poor condition. Monthly use of Revolution will aid in controlling these roundworm infections. Additional roundworm treatment should be administered to puppies less than 12 weeks of age. Roundworms are a health hazard to people, which makes treatment important.
-
Ear Mites – 100% effective cure in dogs with a single dose. Ear mites can live in a dog’s ear canal causing irritation and a black wax-like discharge. Revolution is a topical application applied once to the back of the neck in front of the shoulder to cure ear mites.
-
Sarcoptic Mange – Treats and controls sarcoptic mange due to Sarcoptes scabei Revolution should be applied once and is highly effective as a single dose. A second monthly dose of Revolution may be required for complete elimination of mites in some dogs. Monthly use of Revolution will treat any subsequent Sarcoptes mite infestations.
-
Flea Allergy Dermatitis or F.A.D. – Revolution also helps to control Flea Allergy Dermatitis or F.A.D., a skin condition in dog’s that are sensitive to fleas.
